Ezra the Teacher – A Story of Learning God’s Word Long ago, after many years away from their homeland, God’s people returned to Jerusalem. The city was slowly being rebuilt, and the walls were standing strong again. But something important was still missing… The people needed to remember God’s Word. In a faraway land, there lived a man named Ezra. Ezra loved God very much. He spent his days reading, studying, and understanding the Scriptures. More than anything, Ezra wanted to follow God with all his heart. One day, Ezra felt something special in his heart. “I must go to Jerusalem,” he said. “God’s people need to learn His Word again.” So Ezra began a long journey to the city. When Ezra arrived in Jerusalem, he saw the people busy with their daily lives. They had homes, families, and work—but many had forgotten God’s teachings. Ezra knew what he had to do. He gathered the people together in a big open place. Men, women, and children came from all around. They were curious. “What will Ezra say?” they wondered. Ezra stood up on a wooden platform so everyone could see him. He held the Book of God’s Law in his hands. As he opened the book, something amazing happened. All the people stood up. They showed respect for God’s Word. Ezra began to read. His voice was clear and strong. He read slowly so everyone could understand. Around him, helpers explained the meaning to the people. The people listened carefully. Some smiled with joy. Some felt quiet inside. Some even began to cry. Why were they crying? Because they realized they had forgotten God’s ways. But Ezra gently spoke to them. “Do not be sad,” he said kindly. “Today is a day of joy! God loves you. He has brought you back.” Then he said something very special: “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” The people felt hope again. They began to celebrate! They shared food, helped one another, and thanked God for His goodness. From that day on, the people listened to God’s Word more carefully. They learned, they obeyed, and they grew closer to God. And Ezra? He continued to teach, guide, and encourage the people.
