John’s Vision of the New Heaven – Book 20

Long ago, one of Jesus’ disciples named John was living on a small island called Patmos. John had been sent there because he faithfully preached about Jesus. Even though he was far from his friends and churches, John continued to pray and worship God.
One day, while John was worshipping, God gave him an amazing vision about the future. John saw wonderful things that showed God’s power, victory, and His promise to make everything new one day.
In the vision, John saw a new heaven and a new earth. The old world, filled with sadness, pain, and sin, had passed away. Everything God created was made fresh and perfect again.
Then John saw the holy city, called New Jerusalem, coming down from heaven. The city shone with beauty and glory like sparkling jewels. It was prepared like a bride beautifully dressed for a wedding.
John heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Look! God’s home is now with His people. He will live with them, and they will be His people forever.”
This was wonderful news. In the new heaven and new earth, God’s people would never again feel separated from Him. They would live in His presence forever.
Then God made an incredible promise. He said, “I will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain.”
Imagine a place with no sickness, fear, loneliness, or suffering. No one would ever hurt others again. Everything would be filled with peace, joy, and love.
John also saw that the city had no temple because God Himself was there with the people. The city did not even need the sun or moon to shine because God’s glory filled it with light.
A beautiful river flowed through the city, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God. Along the river grew the tree of life, which produced fruit each month and brought healing and blessing.
The gates of the city were never closed because there was no danger there. Nothing evil could enter the city. Only those who belonged to God would live there forever.
Jesus also spoke to John in the vision and said, “I am coming soon.” Jesus reminded believers to remain faithful and keep trusting Him.
John was amazed by everything he saw. The vision gave hope to Christians who were suffering or facing difficult times. It reminded them that God’s victory would come in the end and that a glorious future awaited those who loved Him.
The story of John’s vision of the new heaven teaches us many important lessons. First, it reminds us that God has prepared a beautiful future for His people. No matter how hard life may sometimes feel, God promises eternal joy and peace.
Second, the vision reminds us that God will one day remove all pain and sadness. This gives comfort to people who are hurting or afraid.
The story also teaches us about hope. John was living in exile on a lonely island, yet God showed him wonderful promises about the future. Even during difficult times, we can trust that God is in control.
Most importantly, the vision points us to Jesus, who will one day make all things new. God’s love and goodness will last forever, and those who trust Him will live in His presence eternally.
And so, John faithfully shared his vision with the churches so believers everywhere could have courage, hope, and joy as they waited for God’s perfect kingdom to come.
