Joshua’s Brave Prayer – The Sun Stands Still – Book 7

Long ago, after Moses had led God’s people out of Egypt, a new leader was chosen. His name was Joshua.
Joshua was strong and brave. But more than that, he trusted God with all his heart.
One day, Joshua and the people of Israel faced a great challenge.
Five powerful kings had joined their armies together. They wanted to fight against God’s people. The battle would not be easy.
Joshua knew he could not win on his own.
So he prayed.
“God, be with us,” Joshua asked. “Help us and give us victory.”
God heard Joshua’s prayer and promised to help.
The next morning, Joshua and his army marched forward with courage. The battle began, and God fought alongside them.
The enemy became confused and afraid. Joshua’s army began to win!
But there was a problem.
The sun was starting to go down.
Soon, darkness would come. And in the dark, the enemy could escape.
Joshua knew that if the night came too soon, the battle would not be finished.
So Joshua did something very bold.
He prayed a prayer no one had ever prayed before.
Standing before everyone, Joshua looked up at the sky and said:
“Sun, stand still over Gibeon!
Moon, stop in the valley!”
Everyone watched in silence.
Would anything happen?
Then something amazing took place.
The sun stopped moving.
The moon stayed in place.
The day did not end.
It was as if time itself had paused!
The sky remained bright, and the light stayed strong.
God had heard Joshua’s prayer.
Because of this miracle, Joshua and his army had enough time to finish the battle. The enemy could not escape, and victory was complete.
All the people were amazed.
They had never seen anything like it before.
The Bible tells us that there was never a day like that—when God listened to a man’s prayer and answered in such a powerful way.
Joshua trusted God completely.
He did not doubt.
He did not fear.
He believed that God could do the impossible.
And God showed His power in a way the whole world would remember.
Joshua’s story teaches us something very important.
Sometimes, we face big problems that seem too hard.
But when we trust God and pray with faith, He can do more than we imagine.
We may not see the sun stand still—but we can always know that God hears us.
And He is always with us.
🌟 MORAL LESSON
God hears our prayers and can do the impossible.
