In the very beginning, before mountains, oceans, animals, or people existed, there was only darkness. The earth had not yet taken shape, and everything was quiet and empty. But God had a wonderful plan. He was about to create a beautiful world full of life, color, and joy. On the first day, God spoke powerful words: “Let there be light.” And suddenly, bright light filled the darkness! God saw that the light was good. He separated the light from the darkness. The light He called Day, and the darkness He called Night. That was the very first day of creation. On the second day, God created the sky. He placed a wide, beautiful space above the earth. This space would hold the clouds and the blue sky we see every day. It stretched high above the land and the waters. God looked at the sky and saw that it was good. On the third day, God gathered the waters together so dry land could appear. The land rose up into hills and mountains, and the waters became seas and oceans. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters Seas. Then God filled the earth with green plants, tall trees, colorful flowers, and all kinds of seeds. The world began to look bright and beautiful. On the fourth day, God created the sun, the moon, and the stars. The shining sun lit up the daytime, while the gentle moon and sparkling stars glowed during the night. These lights helped people know when it was day and night and showed the seasons of the year. When God looked at the sky filled with stars, it was truly wonderful. On the fifth day, God filled the seas and skies with living creatures. Fish swam through the oceans, and whales splashed in the deep waters. Colorful birds spread their wings and flew through the sky. Some birds sang cheerful songs, while others soared high above the clouds. On the sixth day, God created animals to live on the land. There were strong lions, gentle sheep, tall giraffes, playful monkeys, and tiny insects crawling on the ground. The earth became full of amazing creatures of every shape and size. But God was not finished yet. On that same day, God created something very special—people. God made the first man, named Adam, and later a woman named Eve. They were created in God’s image, which meant they could think, love, and care for the world around them. God gave them the beautiful garden of Eden to live in and asked them to take care of the animals and plants. Finally, on the seventh day, God rested. He looked at everything He had made—the bright sky, the deep oceans, the animals, the plants, and the first people. Everything was good and exactly as He had planned. The world was now full of life, beauty, and wonder. From that very first week of creation, people have enjoyed the amazing world God made. And even today, when we see the shining sun, the twinkling stars, or the colorful flowers, we can remember that God created it all with love.
