Ruth and Naomi – Book 8

Long ago in a town called Bethlehem, there lived a kind woman named Naomi. She had a loving husband and two sons. But one year, a great famine came, and there was not enough food to eat. So Naomi and her family traveled to a faraway land called Moab to find food and safety.
Sadly, after some time, Naomi’s husband passed away. Her two sons married kind women named Ruth and Orpah. Naomi loved them like her own daughters. But after a few years, something very sad happened — Naomi’s two sons also died.
Naomi felt very lonely and brokenhearted. She decided to return to Bethlehem, where her people lived.
She said gently to Ruth and Orpah, “My dear daughters, you should stay here and start new lives. I am too old to take care of you.”
Orpah hugged Naomi and cried, then returned to her family.
But Ruth held Naomi’s hand tightly.
“Please don’t leave me,” Ruth said lovingly.
“Where you go, I will go. Where you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”
Naomi was touched by Ruth’s kindness and love. Together, they traveled back to Bethlehem.
When they arrived, the town was busy with the harvest season. Fields were filled with golden grain ready to be gathered.
Ruth wanted to help Naomi, so she went into the fields to pick up leftover grain behind the workers. This was how poor people found food in those days.
The field belonged to a kind man named Boaz.
Boaz noticed Ruth working very hard and asked about her.
When he learned that she was caring for Naomi, he was impressed by her kindness.
“You are very brave and loving,” Boaz said gently.
“Please stay in my fields where you will be safe. I will make sure you have plenty of food.”
Boaz told his workers to leave extra grain for Ruth to gather.
Ruth went home with baskets full of food, and Naomi was amazed.
“God has blessed us,” Naomi said with happy tears.
Day after day, Ruth continued working in Boaz’s fields. Boaz grew to admire Ruth’s gentle heart and strong faith.
In time, Boaz married Ruth.
Soon, Ruth and Boaz had a baby boy. They named him Obed.
Naomi held the baby in her arms and smiled again after so much sadness.
God had turned her sorrow into joy.
Ruth’s love and faithfulness brought blessings to their family.
And Obed would one day become the grandfather of King David — a great king chosen by God.
