Long ago, in the land of Israel, Jesus often taught people how to love God and care for one another. One day, a man asked Jesus, “Teacher, who is my neighbor?” Jesus smiled gently and told this beautiful story. A traveler was walking along a long, dusty road from Jerusalem to Jericho. The sun was hot, and the road was quiet. Suddenly, some robbers jumped out from behind the rocks! They took the man’s clothes, his money, and hurt him badly. Then they ran away, leaving him lying beside the road. The poor man was hurt and could barely move. After some time, a priest came walking down the same road. He saw the injured man lying there. But instead of helping, the priest crossed to the other side of the road and hurried away. Soon after, a temple helper came along. He looked at the man, but he also walked past without stopping. The injured man felt very sad and lonely. Then, a Samaritan man came riding along on his donkey. The Samaritans were usually not friendly with the Jewish people, but this man had a kind heart. When he saw the hurt traveler, he stopped right away. “Oh no,” he said softly. “You are badly hurt.” He gently cleaned the man’s wounds and wrapped them with cloth to protect them. Then he carefully lifted the man onto his donkey and took him to a small inn nearby. At the inn, the Samaritan stayed with him all night, making sure he was safe and comfortable. The next morning, he gave the innkeeper some money and said, “Please take care of him. If it costs more, I will pay you when I return.” The Samaritan left, but his kindness stayed in the man’s heart forever. After Jesus finished the story, He looked at the people and asked, “Which of these was a true neighbor to the man who was hurt?” They answered, “The one who showed kindness.” Jesus smiled and said, “Go and do the same.” 🌟 Moral of the Story
