The sun shone brightly over the wide, dry desert. Golden sand stretched as far as the eye could see. There were no trees, no rivers, and no farms—only long paths of dust and heat. The people of Israel were traveling through this wilderness. God had led them out of Egypt, where they had once been slaves. Now they were free—but the journey was not easy. Day after day, they walked under the hot sun. Soon, their food began to run out. The children grew tired. The parents grew worried. And before long, the people began to complain. “We are hungry!” they said. “There is no food here!” “In Egypt, we had bread to eat. Why did we come to this desert?” Their voices were filled with fear and frustration. Moses heard them all. He knew they were tired. He knew they were afraid. So Moses turned to God and prayed. That night, God spoke gently to Moses. “I have heard My people,” God said. “Tell them not to be afraid. I will provide food for them from heaven.” The next morning, something wonderful happened. When the people woke up and stepped outside their tents, they stopped in surprise. The ground was covered with tiny white flakes—like soft frost shining in the morning light. The people looked at each other in confusion. “What is this?” they asked. Moses smiled and said, “This is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. It is called manna.” The people bent down and picked it up. It was small and light in their hands. When they tasted it, they smiled. “It is sweet!” they said. “Like honey!” Everyone gathered manna—enough for their families. There was plenty for all. Then Moses gave them an important instruction: “Take only what you need for today. Do not keep extra for tomorrow. Trust that God will provide again.” Most people listened and obeyed. But some were worried. “What if there is no food tomorrow?” they whispered. So they secretly gathered more manna than they needed and tried to save it. The next morning, they opened what they had saved… and it had spoiled! It smelled bad and was full of worms. The people realized their mistake. God wanted them to trust Him—every single day. So from that day on, they gathered just enough manna each morning. And every morning, God faithfully provided. There was always enough. On the sixth day, something special happened. God told Moses, “Today, gather twice as much. Tomorrow is a day of rest.” The people obeyed. And this time, the extra manna stayed fresh! God was teaching them not only to trust—but also to rest. Day after day, week after week, God provided manna from heaven. In the middle of the dry desert, where no food could grow… God made a way. Slowly, the people began to understand something very important. Even when they could not see the future… Even when they felt afraid… God was always taking care of them. He never forgot them. He never left them. And every time they tasted the sweet manna, they remembered: God provides what we need—every day. And He will always take care of His children.
