The Wise Men Follow the Star – Book 6
Long ago, in the vast lands of the East, lived group of scholars known as the Magi, or the Wise Men. These men spent their nights studying the deep velvet sky, mapping the ancient paths of the planets, and reading scrolls of old prophecies. They knew that one day, a spectacular sign would appear in the heavens—a sign signaling the birth of a King whose reign would bring eternal light, truth, and peace to the world.
One quiet night, as the world lay sleeping, an extraordinary light burst through the darkness. It was not a faint, shimmering planet or a passing meteor. It was a new, brilliant star, radiating a warm, golden glow that seemed to outshine every other light in the sky. The Wise Men gazed up in absolute wonder. Their hearts leaped with joy, for they knew instantly what it meant: the promised King of Kings had finally been born.
Determined to find the holy Child, the Wise Men prepared for a long and arduous journey across rugged deserts, rolling hills, and winding rivers. They did not travel empty-handed. From their royal treasuries, they selected three precious gifts fit for royalty: gleaming gold, fragrant frankincense, and costly myrrh. With their camels packed and their hearts full of expectation, they stepped out into the cool night, keeping their eyes fixed on the mysterious, glowing guide above them.
For many weeks, the star moved faithfully ahead of them, lighting up their pathway through the dark hours. Eventually, their long journey brought them to the bustling city of Jerusalem. Believing that a great King would naturally be born in a grand palace, the Wise Men visited King Herod, asking, “Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
King Herod became deeply troubled by their words, fearing that this new King would take away his earthly crown. Gathering his chief priests, Herod learned that ancient prophecies pointed to the humble town of Bethlehem. Hiding his dark intentions, Herod told the Wise Men, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
As the Wise Men left Jerusalem, the brilliant star suddenly reappeared, shining brighter than ever before. Filled with overwhelming joy, they followed its golden beams until it came to a stop, hovering directly over a quiet, humble house in Bethlehem.
Stepping inside, the Wise Men did not find a royal court or armored guards. Instead, they saw a sweet young mother named Mary, holding a gentle, radiant child: Baby Jesus. Falling to their knees in deep reverence, the Wise Men bowed low and worshipped Him, feeling an indescribable peace fill the room. They opened their treasures and presented their gifts: gold for a King, frankincense for a holy Savior, and myrrh to honor His sacred life.
That night, God warned the Wise Men in a dream not to return to Herod, who secretly wished to harm the Child. Obedient to the divine message, they traveled back to their distant eastern homeland by a completely different route, their hearts forever changed by the wonder of the star and the presence of the Savior.
