Long ago, in the beautiful land of Canaan, there lived a man named Isaac. Isaac was the son of Abraham and Sarah. Abraham loved Isaac very much because Isaac was the special son that God had promised. Isaac grew up to be kind, gentle, and faithful to God. He helped care for the family’s animals and spent time praying and trusting God. As Abraham became very old, he began to think about Isaac’s future. Abraham wanted Isaac to have a good wife who loved God. One day, Abraham called his faithful servant and said, “Please travel to my homeland and find a wife for my son Isaac.” The servant promised to do as Abraham asked. He prepared for the long journey and took ten camels with him. He also carried gifts to give to the family of the woman who would become Isaac’s wife. The servant traveled many days across hot deserts and dusty roads. Finally, he arrived near a town where Abraham’s relatives lived. The servant stopped at a well outside the town. In those days, people often came to the well to draw water. The servant prayed quietly to God. “Dear God,” he said, “please help me find the right wife for Isaac. Let the woman who offers water for me and also for my camels be the one You have chosen.” Just then, a young woman came to the well carrying a water jar on her shoulder. Her name was Rebekah. She was kind, hardworking, and had a cheerful smile. Rebekah filled her jar with water. The servant asked politely, “May I please have a drink of water?” Rebekah quickly said, “Of course!” and gave him water to drink. Then she said something wonderful. “I will also bring water for your camels.” The servant was amazed. His camels were very thirsty after the long journey! Rebekah worked hard, drawing water again and again until all the camels had enough to drink. The servant knew that God had answered his prayer. He gave Rebekah beautiful gifts and asked about her family. When he learned that Rebekah was related to Abraham’s family, he thanked God with great joy. Soon, Rebekah’s family welcomed the servant into their home. The servant explained why he had come and told them about Isaac. Rebekah’s family listened carefully and agreed that this was God’s plan. Rebekah was willing to travel far away to become Isaac’s wife. So the servant prepared for the journey back to Canaan. Rebekah rode on one of the camels as they traveled across the desert. After many days, they finally arrived near Isaac’s home. One evening, Isaac was walking in the field, thinking and praying. In the distance, he saw the camels approaching. Rebekah also saw Isaac. When she learned that he was the man she would marry, she smiled with happiness. Isaac welcomed Rebekah warmly, and they were married. They cared for each other and trusted God together. And Isaac loved Rebekah very much.
