The Lost Sheep – Book 7

Long ago, Jesus loved to tell stories to help people understand God’s love.
One day, He told a story about a kind shepherd and his sheep.
The shepherd had one hundred sheep. Every day, he led them to green fields where they could eat soft grass and drink cool water. He watched over them carefully and made sure they were safe.
The sheep loved their shepherd because he cared for them so much.
Every evening, the shepherd counted his sheep as they returned to the sheepfold.
“One… two… three…” he counted carefully.
But one night, something was wrong.
He counted again.
“Ninety-eight… ninety-nine…”
The shepherd stopped.
“Where is my little sheep?” he asked.
One sheep was missing.
The other ninety-nine were safe, but the shepherd’s heart was worried. He loved every single sheep — even the one that had wandered away.
So the shepherd made a brave choice.
He left the ninety-nine sheep in a safe place and went out into the hills to look for the lost one.
The sky grew darker as the sun went down. The wind blew softly through the grass. The shepherd called out again and again.
“Little sheep! Where are you?”
He searched behind rocks.
He looked in the valleys.
He walked through bushes and over hills.
At last, he heard a small, frightened sound.
“Baa… baa…”
The shepherd followed the sound and found the lost sheep stuck near some thorny bushes. The little sheep looked tired and scared.
“Oh, my dear sheep,” the shepherd said gently.
He carefully lifted the sheep onto his shoulders.
The lost sheep felt safe and warm.
The shepherd smiled with joy as he carried the sheep home.
When he returned, he called his friends and neighbors.
“Rejoice with me!” he said happily.
“I have found my lost sheep!”
Everyone celebrated together.
