The Little Maid and Naaman – Book 4

Long ago, in a land far away, there lived a young girl. She was small, gentle, and kind. People often called her the little maid.
But her story was not an easy one.
The little maid had been taken from her home and now lived in a foreign land, serving in the house of a powerful army commander named Naaman.
Naaman was a great and brave soldier. He led many battles and was respected by everyone. But there was one big problem.
Naaman was very sick.
He had a disease called leprosy, and no one could cure it. No matter how strong or important he was, he could not heal himself.
In Naaman’s house, there was sadness.
But the little maid did something surprising.
Even though she was far from her home, even though life was hard, she still trusted God.
One day, she spoke gently to Naaman’s wife.
“I wish my master could see the prophet in Israel,” she said. “The prophet would heal him.”
Her words were simple—but full of faith.
When Naaman heard this, he was curious. Could it be true? Could someone really heal him?
Naaman decided to go and find out.
He prepared for a long journey and traveled to the land of Israel. He went to the house of the prophet Elisha.
Naaman expected something grand. He thought the prophet would come out, say powerful words, and heal him instantly.
But that’s not what happened.
Instead, Elisha sent a message:
“Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River, and you will be healed.”
Naaman was not happy.
“Is that all?” he said. “I thought it would be something great!”
He felt angry and disappointed. He almost turned back without trying.
But then, his servants spoke kindly to him.
“My master,” they said, “if the prophet had told you to do something difficult, you would have done it. Why not try this simple thing?”
Naaman stopped and thought.
They were right.
So, he went to the Jordan River.
Slowly, he stepped into the water.
Once… twice… three times…
Nothing happened.
Four times… five times… six times…
Still nothing.
Then, the seventh time, Naaman dipped into the water again.
And suddenly—something amazing happened!
His skin became clean. Smooth. Healthy!
Naaman was healed!
He looked at his hands in wonder. He could hardly believe it. The sickness was gone!
Naaman was filled with joy. He knew that God had healed him.
He returned to Elisha with a thankful heart.
“Now I know,” Naaman said, “that there is no God in all the world except the God of Israel.”
And what about the little maid?
Her simple words, spoken with faith and kindness, had changed everything.
Because of her courage, Naaman found healing.
Because of her faith, a powerful man learned to trust God.
