Joseph Forgives His Brothers – Book 7

Long ago, there lived a man named Joseph. When Joseph was young, his brothers had been very jealous of him. They treated him badly and sold him as a slave.
Joseph was taken far away to the land of Egypt.
But God was with Joseph through every difficult moment. Over many years, Joseph worked hard and trusted God. Soon he became an important ruler in Egypt. The king trusted Joseph to help take care of the whole country.
One day, a terrible famine came to the land. The crops did not grow, and many people did not have enough food.
But Joseph had prepared wisely. Egypt had stored grain during the good years, so people from many lands came to Egypt to buy food.
One day, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt looking for food too.
They did not recognize Joseph. He was now dressed like an Egyptian ruler.
But Joseph recognized them immediately.
Joseph saw his brothers bow down before him. Many years earlier, Joseph had dreamed that his brothers would bow before him one day. Now that dream had come true.
Joseph felt many emotions in his heart. He remembered how his brothers had hurt him long ago. But he also remembered how God had helped him through every hard moment.
Joseph wanted to see if his brothers had changed.
He spoke to them and asked about their family. He learned that his father Jacob was still alive and that his younger brother Benjamin had stayed at home.
Joseph decided to test his brothers.
After some time, Joseph saw something very important. His brothers were no longer selfish and cruel like before. They cared about each other and about their father.
Judah, one of the brothers, even offered to take the punishment himself to protect Benjamin.
Joseph saw that his brothers had truly changed.
Joseph could not hide his feelings any longer.
He asked all the Egyptian servants to leave the room.
Then Joseph began to cry.
“I am Joseph,” he said. “I am your brother.”
The brothers were shocked and frightened. They remembered how badly they had treated him many years ago.
But Joseph spoke kindly to them.
“Do not be afraid,” Joseph said. “You meant to harm me, but God used it for good. God sent me here to help save many people.”
Joseph forgave his brothers.
Instead of being angry, Joseph showed them love and kindness.
Joseph told his brothers to go home and bring their father Jacob and their families to Egypt. There would be plenty of food for everyone.
When Jacob heard that Joseph was alive, he was filled with joy.
Soon Jacob and the whole family traveled to Egypt.
After many years, Joseph and his father were finally together again.
Joseph hugged his brothers and welcomed his family with love.
Joseph’s story showed everyone something very important.
Even when people make mistakes, forgiveness and love can bring families back together.
